Therapy

Coming to a therapist takes a great deal of courage; usually summoned when facing internal obstacles, profound loss and life changes.  Anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, unresolved traumas, anger and resentment, disruptions in lifestyle due to illness and unexpected changes, are a few examples of the turmoil, which shakes our foundations.

We engage in harmful old habits, toxic relationships and avoidant behaviors, which rather than helping us to feel connected to others and at ease with ourselves, cause greater disconnect, further imbalance and a sense of being stuck.

In therapy, I implement a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including conventional talk therapy, cognitive behavioral interventions as well as art therapy.  Regarding addictions and substance abuse issues, I ascribe to a harm reduction perspective, honoring the client’s struggle without rigid demands of full abstinence.

It is my belief, however, that the therapeutic alliance and the development of trust in a nurturing environment, as well as a touch of humor, are the keys to transformation and authentic change.
